Fort Walton Beach is located on the Northwest Gulf Coast of Florida commonly called the Emerald Coast. The area was originally called Camp Walton and was named after the 56th signer of the Declaration of Independence. The nearby location of the Indian Temple Mound makes it a point of archaeological as well as historical interest.
