Tourists enjoy visiting the Tybee Museum, which is open year round to the public. Tybee Island is rich in civil war history, and tourists come year round to view old relics that were left behind long ago. The air of battle is present when people visit the Tybee Museum because the museum is inside what was once the Battery Garland, which was built in 1899.
Fort Screven was directly next door to the Battery Garland, and there is rich history to be found there. The public can enjoy a guided tour of both areas, but enjoy the winding corridors that go up and down throughout the Garland Battery the most.
In the middle of Tybee Island, visitors can find Memorial Park, which is a great place to have an afternoon picnic. Tourists can also enjoy Jaycee Park, which features a variety of plant life and wildlife, and marshy creeks that have small bridges to allow tourists to cross over and enjoy gazebos that are scattered through the park.
