Bradenton Beach has plenty to offer for its tourist especially when it comes to fun and exciting things to do. This small city is located on Anna Maria Island just off the Gulf of Mexico. The city shares the island with two more other cities, the Anna Maria City and Holmes Beach. It is a short drive from the bigger cities – Bradenton and Sarasota making it a favorite place for those who want to rest from busy city streets and high buildings.
The town is known for having beautiful fishing piers, dining options, affordable accommodations, excellent white sand beaches, and a variety of attractions and activities. The pace in this town is noticeably relaxed and laid-back with a peaceful country feel. The first post office in the town started its operation in 1941, by 1952 the city was incorporated and took its name from the nearby Bradenton. Just like its other neighbors, the town was known to be also occupied first by American Indians before settlement began.
Today, Bradenton Beach is proud to offer a vibrant and charming community. It has something to offer for every tourist from families, couples, or group of friends.
Attractions and Activities in Bradenton Beach
- Bradenton Public Beach – This beach features miles and miles of white sand powdery beaches. A great place to relax and have fun. There are plenty of parking spaces on the southern end of the beach and there are a number of concessionaires offering fresh and delicious food for beachgoers.
- Bradenton City Pier – The pier is a must see especially if you love the water and you like to know more about the history of the city. The pier and surrounding area feature an old American charm. The pier has several dining options, sitting areas, and shopping boutiques. Offering a fun and relaxed atmosphere, many locals come here to see some fishing action.
- Segway Tours – One fun activity that you can do while on the beach area is trying out Segway Tours. A special outfitter offers Segway rental where you can easily move about the island and other beaches or communities in the area. Through Segway tours, you will be able to discover more of the what the island has to offer.
- Water Sports – There are plenty of water sports that you can join or try which will make your stay a truly memorable one. There are outfitters offering paragliding and parasailing activities. There are also a number of gear rental stores, where you can get equipment such as paddleboards, kayak, scuba, snorkeling, or even go dolphin or whale watching!

To access Anna Maria Island from the mainland – or the city of Bradenton, you need to cross the bridges on Cortez Road or Manatee Avenue. Bradenton is part of the Bradenton – Sarasota – Venice Metropolitan area, so it is served by the Sarasota International Airport. The airport caters to daily domestic and international flights.
